Today I finished listening to a book on Drive and Motivation. It spoke a great deal on research studies that tried to locate the single factor that influences what we do. A very fitting discussion for this blog. To summarize EyeRoll4, it’s a template: I do blank for blank. The one interesting takeaway I got from this book was that the addition of incentives sometimes takes away the feelings that normally are associated with work and tasks that are enjoyable. In JiuJitsu, it’s said that if you focus on the next belt you’ll not last long. I didn’t transfer this idea to other aspects of life before reading this fact.
