This past week I definitely stepped out of my comfort zone. I attended an in-person training for my leadership development program and then attended a leadership conference. I was gone for almost 7 days and I was very nervous leading up to the trip. It had been a long time since I had an independent travel experience. I’ve always had a little bit of sight and I’m cool with being the blind dude. I developed my mobility impairment a little later in life. Even though I’ve used a walker for a number of years, I felt that this was my first long-term travel experience with a walker. Yes, I was scared, but what else was I supposed to do. I had to attend trainings and get food for myself. Most of all I had to travel and be punctual. I had to throw nerves aside and suck it up. Sure I’ve got disabilities, but I’m also a 31 year-old who’s got obligations that can’t let little irrational fears get in the way. I’m glad I dealt with this nerve-racking experience so I can feel more confident in situations where I may feel insecure. EyeRoll4 the ability to gain comfort and step outside my comfort zone.
