How do we manage to still feel accomplished when we’re in the process of completing a long-term goal? Small wins and mini goals are great motivators! They help you see the progress and make you want to keep moving forward. In a race you see mile-markers. When you climb a rock wall you can count progress by reaching the next hold. In JiuJitsu there’s a lot of back and forth in terms of sometimes you win and other times lose. This can cause frustration in terms of not seeing out-right progress. One way to see progress is plan to work on something specific for that day. It can be quantifiable or not, but this depends on your need to see a small win for yourself. If you can get by with saying I ate more fruit or slept more, then that’s great. If you need to say I read 2 chapters today, that’s also a win. At the end of a hard day, look back and identify small accomplishments and then plan your next day with tasks that you know you can check off while still challenging yourself. EyeRoll4 the small wins.
