With every New Year comes new resolutions and goals that we set for ourselves to put us in better positions than the previous year. For many, resolutions lose steam quickly and the goals we set are just replaced by letting life happen. For others, like myself, we stick to them. I’m not saying that I always stick to a New Years Resolution, but this year I really want to tackle a goal. I am approaching my goal a little differently this time, though. I know what I want to do, but I had to ask mentors how to get the task done. Apart from my mentors, I even reached out to past connections to ask their input. I have been setting daily tasks for myself that will bring me closer to my goal. One of my mentors said “You have to first believe that you can”, and although the goal seems intimidating, I’m putting a conscious effort into not talking myself down. Just like in JiuJitsu, I’m looking at the position and mapping out a course to take to get to my objective without wavering at the thought of getting smooshed by doubt. I have accomplished a lot of big goals that scared the Hell out of me, but as long as I plan my moves sequentially and not waver from my objective I know I’ll come out on top.
