How to beat the feeling of inadequacy

Everyone at some time feels that they are not good enough in their current role. You may feel moments of doubt in your current job, relationship, or other aspects of your life. The thing to realize is that you are not abnormal for these negative tendencies. I had a discussion yesterday about feelings of inadequacy. I am at a disadvantage in areas of my life, due to 2 physical disabilities, and this can cause feelings of nervousness. The idea that was brought up was that it’s not the disabilities that can hinder roles, but the mindset that amplifies characteristics that we feel are undesirable. If put in a situation that makes us feel inadequate, creating the sense of adequacy is a good practice. For example, when I feel that I have limitations performing a task at work or at home, I can think about circumstances that I can perform without barriers with/without modifications put in place. The idea of this type of exercise is reframing your ideas so you can perform to your greatest extent possible. If you still can’t get the job done, it is not because of inadequacy because you’ve already proven to yourself that you’ve worked to the best of your ability. You can do all you can, but their may be a stopping point. At least when you reach that point you will be able to feel at ease knowing that you’ve done all you can.
