Nerves are a funny thing. Whenever your body is exposed to stressors you always know when the negative stressors are around because of nerves. We can breeze by the good stressors without a second glance, but when bad stressors come around your stomach turns into a pretzel. At least that’s my reaction. In JiuJitsu, you often find yourself folded into a pretzel. In these situations, you have 2 options: escape or tap out. If you tap out, that’s okay because you have the opportunity to learn how to escape. In terms of nerves, an escape can be anything from taking time to listen to music or grappling with friends. We need that escape. Sure no escape is permanent, but during life or even a JiuJitsu roll there will be multiple situations that you need to escape from even for a little bit. The escape is a recharge. After you’re charged back up, you’re ready to take on your stressors. EyeRoll4 the ability to find a temporary escape and recharge.
