Tips for creating a goal

Putting a strategy together to ensure success on the way to your goal can be a daunting task. In today’s society we like the instant gratification. But what fun would that be without the work of reaching a goal (insert sarcasm). One strategy for breaking down goals is to use SMART Goals. I don’t know who created this model, but I give them all the credit. I just learned about it in my undergraduate program at Western Michigan University. If you break down the acronym, you want to plan your goals to take this form:
(S) Simple (M) Measurable (A) Attainable (R) Realistic (T) Timely
This model can work for both long-term and short-term goals. You want to keep the goal simple and to the point, measurable in a way that you can track your progress, attainable so that you can reach it with some work, realistic so that you are participating in something that is put into perspective, and timely giving yourself a reasonable timeline. I’ll give some scenarios of putting this model to use in my next post. EyeRoll4 the ability to fill in my own path to success.
