Don’t judge a book by it’s cover

I realize that I have not spent as much time to post this week, as I regularly do. Being home sick leaves a lot of time for rest and that’s what I needed. Some people find rest with binge-watching their favorite TV shows, but this week I spent a lot of time listening to audio books while I let a cold virus run through my imune system. I have been listening to a lot of books lately already, and had picked some new books out when I concluded listening to my last completion. I don’t sway towards fiction or non-fiction, but if something looks like it may have a good lesson or story behind it I’ll give it a whirl. Well my list of previously downloaded books was depleted quickly and I had heard of some book series that I didn’t want to touch, due to pre-conceived notions that I had about the storyline. A couple of years ago, I felt kind of out-of-the-loop when some coworkers of mine were always talking about the Hunger Games. I felt that I should know more about it so I could engage in lunch conversations, but the more I heard about it the weirder it sounded. This week was the first time that I thought maybe there was something to this series and I might as well check it out. Honestly, I thought they sounded weird talking about watching a series on TV. Imagine how weird they thought I was when I responded that I was going to practice a new leg lock entry on a friend’s ankle that same evening. I have heard the phrase “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover”, but it stands true in this scenario, and for many others as well. Whenever a new experience or opportunity arrises don’t be afraid to judge it. It is natural to judge, but don’t be afraid to be open-minded and investigate/explore the information presented. Most people often stumble across some of their greatest triumphs and smallest bits of enjoyment just by being open and adventurous. This applies to anything from deciding to read a book series out of the norm, or deciding to let your guard down and form new relationships. EyeRoll4 the ability to be open-minded and explore.
