In retrospect

Last night, on the ride home from a family dinner, Linkin Park’s song “In the End” played on the radio. As you listen to the lyrics and melody, you can feel the message that the artists were trying to convey. Listening to the lyrics themselves, you can take away another message. For those who don’t know, the lyrics go “I tried so hard and got so far, in the end it doesn’t even matter. I had to fall to lose it all, in the end it doesn’t even matter”. There is a lot of truth in this chorus. There have been many times in my own life when I put forth a bunch of time, preparation, and confidence just to have a negative result smack me in the face. In the present, those downfalls felt like a ton of bricks being dropped on our ego, but in the long run “it doesn’t even matter”. When you look in your past, you’ll find that every bit of adversity and every trial/tribulation has made you stronger in some way. We are resilient! We have the ability to overcome bad experiences and learn from them. Making new goals and experiences keeps us rolling. In my last post I spoke about negative actions like cleaning up dog poop can lead to a positive like fresher air. We can use the positive outcome to carry us through the negative situation. There will be countless negative experiences in your life, but we keep on rolling. In the grand scheme of things, each barrier to be overcome shrinks dramatically. When one EyeRoll4 is done, just make up another one and keep on rolling. You can reframe a negative into a positive with EyeRoll4 and create goals to be accomplished to keep yourself moving forward.
